Each free gift is worth a different amount of points. The amount of referrals made will cover the cost of your gift, and provide FreebieJeebies with a small profit after expenses. The company advertising their offer will have had exposure to 3 potential customers (if you're aiming for an iPod Shuffle - worth 3 referrals), and they will also have saved money compared to a regular advertising campaign.

Here is also a famous example of freebie marketing:

In July 2007, the music artist Prince gave away 2.8 million units of his most recent album for free by bundling them with a Sunday edition of the UK's Daily Mail.
